Neem cake, or neem khali, specified (for manuring), is an organic manure derived from the residue of neem seed after oil extraction, used to provide a natural source of nutrients and act as a crop protector from pests like nematodes. The standard defines general requirements for the quality of neem cake as a manure, and while specific parameters like minimum Azadirachtin content, Nitrogen, Phosphorus, a nd Potassium levels are typically included in specifications for the product itself, the IS 8558 standard provides the overarching framework for its use as an organic manure.
